What causes sweaty feet?
Your feet have 250,000 sweat glands, your feet do tend to sweat more than other areas, but some people are prone to persistent sweating of the feet that can be embarrassing and cause problems with the skin. Excessively sweaty feet is known as Hyperhidrosis and is caused by overactive sweat glands.
How are sweaty feet treated?
Follow a simple daily routine of good foot hygiene including washing your feet with anti-bacterial soap, using a small amount of foot powder and changing your socks and shoes regularly, leaving your shoes for at least 24 hours before wearing that same pair again. Wearing socks that wick away sweat effectively, and wearing shoes that breath is essential. In more severe cases your doctor may consider referring you for Botox injections to reduce the amount of sweating.
