
Sever’s Disease
Sever’s disease, or calcaneal apophysitis, is a common overuse injury in children that presents as a gradual onset of pain the the heel. It is especially common in children that are active in sport and is more common in boys than girls.
Symptoms of Sever’s Disease
- Gradual onset of pain in one or both heels
- Pain is worse with activity especially with running or jumping
- Pain is relieved with rest

- Stretching exercises
- Heel raises
- Footwear advice
- Rest
