Sports/Musculoskeletal Podiatry and Orthotics
This appointment type is aimed at non sport related musculoskeletal injuries. The appointment will start with a thorough history taking, including a full medical history, discussion of your current activity and specific information regarding the presenting problem.
Following the history taking you will be taken through a series of specific tests to diagnose your injury. Your diagnosis will then be clearly explained to you, and a treatment plan will be tailored for your specific problem.
Foot orthoses are specialised medical insoles which are accommodated in your footwear. Functional foot orthoses are very effective in improving foot function and reducing stress on painful structures. ‘Total contact’ orthoses redistribute pressure over the entire foot, eliminating pressure points and reducing the possibility of tissue breakdown, thereby increasing comfort and mobility. ‘Total contact’ insoles are used extensively in patients with Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and are very effective in treating painful corns and callus. We offer custom made orthoses that are made specifically to the exact requirements of your condition made by a leading UK laboratory.
Foot orthoses are specialised medical insoles which are accommodated in your footwear. Functional foot orthoses are very effective in improving foot function and reducing stress on painful structures. We stock a wide variety of pre-formed foot orthoses which can be effectively used to treat various conditions such as pain in the ball of the foot, arch pain, heel pain, flat foot and anterior knee pain.
Steroid injections can be effectively used for various conditions such as joint pain, heel pain and Morton's neuroma.
Nail Surgery for ingrown toenails
If you suffer from an ingrown toenail that isn't getting any better, we can cure your problem forever. Nail surgery is a safe and effective treatment carried out under local anaesthetic to remove the affected piece of nail forever.
This assessment appointment is for those with a painful ingrown toenail considering nail surgery. Where appropriate, you will be offered conservative treatment at this appointment also. If you decide to proceed with nail surgery, a subsequent appointment will be arranged to carry this out.
