Swift Verruca Treatment
Swift verruca treatment is a revolutionary, scientifically proven solution for verrucae. Using the latest technology, Swift uses short bursts of microwave radiation at extremely high temperatures to break down the infection.
How does Swift work?
Swift works by using a probe to apply microwaves into the infected tissue. The microwaves heat the skin cells and cause a small amount of cell damage, creating an immune reaction from your body.
To get the optimum results, a course of 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart is recommended. A review appointment is then scheduled for 12 weeks. This evidence-based treatment plan is proven that at the 4-week intervals, the microwave therapy is intercepting the production of newly infected cells before they have matured.
How successful is it?
The latest research shows that Swift microwave therapy is an effective treatment for verruca . The evidence shows a 74% clearance rate after 3 sessions at follow up (12 weeks after last treatment). This is significantly higher than traditional treatments, which have a success rate of around 30%.
Cost
The cost of the package, including assessment, 3 Swift treatments and one follow-up appointment is £380.
Are there any risks?
Treatment is not recommended if you have/or are:
- Altered sensation in your feet
- Diabetic
- Reduced capacity to heal
- Pregnant or breast feeding
- Poor circulation
- Low pain threshold
- Pacemaker
- The treatment area is close to a metal implant
What can I expect?
At your first visit, a thorough history and examination of your verruca will be carried out. This would be charged at our normal assessment fee. If Swift therapy is appropriate, you will be given pre-treatment information and your sessions will be booked.
Normally a course of 3 treatments is recommended, four weeks apart. On occasion, further treatments will be required but this will be discussed with you.
During the treatment, you may experience some discomfort but this should be bearable. Most patients report a sharp sensation, like an injection, during the treatment. Any pain felt during treatment quickly subsides and cases of prolonged pain are rare.
